The Met Gala has become one of the biggest nights in fashion, and is often referred to as the Oscars of Fashion. This year's gala, the Impossible Conversations: Schiaparelli and Prada, celebrated two Italian women who have motivated and pushed the envelope of beauty and fashion. Last night the red carpet was awash in shiny metallics, orange sensations and jaw-dropping gowns. The stars captured the heart of the visionaries with fashion that was sculptural, unique, sexy and a little surreal. Here is a glimpse of the best of fashion the event had to offer.

Red Look of the Day

Spotted:  Ginnifer Goodwin promoting her hit ABC series Once Upon a Time.

Ginnifer always looks flawless and super feminine. She looked lovely in her leather Shoshanna dress. She gave the look a bit of energy with a burst of orange colored Guiseppe Zannotti sandals.

Style Tip:  Leather dresses are making a comeback again this summer. Invest in a staple leather dress this year to complete your spring/summer wardrobe. Leather dresses are super versatile and can be worn casually in the day or glamed-up for night. Add a pop of color to your leather with cool bright shoes or accessories to keep the look edge and updated.

The Best Dressed of 2012 People's Choice Awards

In Los Angeles, Hollywood's hottest stars gathered for the 2012 People's Choice Awards and worked the red carpet in their fashion choices. Some owned the moment others got lost in the crowd.  The biggest stars and starlets came out sporting wonderful bright colors, bold shapes and fashion-forward stylish looks. Here's a quick look of the best best dressed of the night including the most fashion-forward and daring outfits.

Best Dressed on the Red Carpet

Jennifer Lawrence made a bold splash on the red carpet. She wore a  mesh purple Viktor & Rolf dress accessorized with Jack Vartanian earrings and Sergio Rossi platforms. She kept the total focus on the dress by keeping her accessories simple and minimal. She completed the look with a sleek ponytail and smoky eyes. Jennifer made a fashion forward statement and  kept things interesting on the red carpet.

Ginnifer Goodwin brightened up the red carpet with a hot pink Roksanda Iioncic frock. She added a bit of an edge to the feminine dress with studded Jimmy Choo booties and an envelope styled  Kzeniya clutch. She finished the look with Van Cleef and Arpels jewellery and chic marcel curls.

Miley Cyrus opted for a feminine chic look in a paneled David Koma dress. She styled the dress with a python Marchesa clutch and fuchsia Jimmy Choo pumps. She added some sparkle to the look with Neil Lane diamond studs. The young starlet made a great fashion forward choice that was young, stylish and totally chic.

Lea Michele is one starlet who does not shy away from fashion on the red carpet. She wore a dazzling white Marchesa fringe dress. She teamed up her dress with gold Jimmy Choo glitter sandals and sparkling diamond earrings. She completed the look with side-swept hair and flawless make-up. This look is modern with a touch of old- Hollywood style.

The young starlets ruled the red carpet. Nina Dobrev wore a pretty emerald Elie Saab dress. She opted for nude Elie Saab pumps, a Lauren Merkin clutch and J. Maderne jewels to complete the look.  The look was very sophisticated but she kept it young with leaving her long brown tresses styled down and opted for a  fresh make-up look.

Which looks were your favourites of the night?
